In her well-loved book, The Gifts of Imperfection, Brene Brown, PhD. writes:

Wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness…think, no matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough. Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.

This Go Girls!’ research on shame and perfectionism changed the way I do my life. It changed the way we do Go Girls! Camp. It changed what I do in my head when I inevitably fail. I am committed to living a bold, brave life. This means I am also committed to making mistakes, learning from them, and loving myself in the process. There is no other way. Okay, well there is, but it feels terrible.

If you haven’t seen Brene’s TED talk on her shame research, you must.

In this video, I share how we use a “Tower of Oops” at Go Girls! Camp to catch all our mistakes and learn from them.

Go ahead.  Make your own Tower of Oops with your daughter.  We all need one.  Dig through your recycling, grab some paint, duct tape, maybe a little glitter and go for it! Make sure to let us know how it goes.
